Since 2014 FUSSBALLENGEL has been combining football with a good cause, today as a damnit e.V. project. On the road to EURO 2028 it's all about sustainability: I'm already following the national team to its matches and checking in Stadium Checks how sustainable stadiums and clubs are. At the EURO in Great Britain and Ireland the prediction game begins: every prediction protects a piece of real rainforest in the damnit-Forest in Peru. But you can already protect forest today.
My goal: to be there live at the EURO on the island in 2028. Until then I'm following the German national team to its matches – with my eyes wide open.
At every match I attend I do a FUSSBALLENGEL Stadium Check and look at five things: energy, mobility, reusable cups, food and waste. The rating is up to five trees. 🌳
For me, getting there is part of the football experience too. So I travel by train, electric car, bike or carpool whenever I can. Whenever that's not enough, I give extra support to the damnit-Forest.
And when a trip is too far, there's the Couch Check: cycling to the pub, watching with friends, regional drinks and mostly vegan food. All impressions are on Instagram.
Experience football. Travel more sustainably. And join FUSSBALLENGEL on the road to EURO 2028. 🌳
Fabrics made from recycled polyester
Our shirt uses fabrics from the SeaQual initiative, which works worldwide to clean up the oceans. Sadly not a systemic solution, but a small contribution.
The recovered plastic is recycled. Together with recycled PET bottles, it becomes new polyester fibres that are made into high-performance, breathable fabrics.
The fabric is printed and sewn within Europe, resulting in an individual, quick-drying performance shirt with a light feel.
Our jersey is made by DeineTeamwear
On the road for football. On the road for the forest.
The shirt travels with me to the national team's matches and shows what FUSSBALLENGEL stands for: experiencing football while acting sustainably.
The FUSSBALLENGEL Stadium Check
At every match I attend, I take a closer look at:
Up to five trees show how sustainable a stadium really is on match day.
🌱 Also on our radar: the pitch itself – artificial turf, hybrid turf and microplastics. Read more →
For every Fussballengel stadium check I look at five things. What counts is what I experience as a fan on matchday, backed up by publicly documented facts.
✓ met = 1 point · ◐ partly = ½ point · ✕ not met = 0 points. Points are added up, half points are rounded up. Every stadium starts with one tree. From the second point on, each point adds another tree. The fifth tree is only awarded if all five categories are met.
Fussballengel system 1.0 · defined after the first three checks and applied retroactively, all tree ratings were confirmed.
Three stadiums. Five criteria. One honest result.

Even closer. More football. More sustainability.
On Instagram I take you along to the German national team's matches and show what happens on the road and in the stadium.

"Damn it! Make fair trade sexy again!"
We want to stand up against the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and protect intact primary forest. These beautiful areas are full of life and hugely important for our climate. That's why we're proud to contribute our part with the damnit-Forest in the Wilderness International protected area on the Tambopata River in Peru.
With €5, 5 m² of rainforest can be permanently protected from deforestation, while also funding local research, environmental education and agroforestry projects — credible, traceable and transparent.
🧾 damnit e.V. is a recognised charitable organisation — your donation is tax-deductible in Germany. A donation receipt is available on request by email at kontakt@fussballengel.net.

The prediction game only starts in summer 2028 — but you don't have to wait that long to make a difference. Protect rainforest area in the damnit-Forest today, independent of the game.
In concrete terms: every prediction donates a fixed amount to the damnit-Forest – and so protects rainforest. The protected forest area 🌳 is visible to every player.

EURO 2028 offers a special opportunity: the venues in Great Britain and Ireland can also be reached from Germany without flying – by train and ferry. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2026 World Cup in North America, most fans had no way around a long-haul flight — with all the CO2 that involves. After the home EURO 2024, EURO 2028 is once again a major tournament you can experience without having to fly – this time abroad.
Flying anyway? Then instead of an external offset, support our own damnit-Forest — protect forest now →
❤️ Since 2014
FUSSBALLENGEL didn't start with EURO 2028. What began in 2014 as a father-daughter project has been combining football with commitment to others ever since.
5 charity prediction games — with a different host and cause each time, but the same drive. Two tournaments had to pause; in 2028 a new ring grows. 📰 View press coverage →
FUSSBALLENGEL originally started as a pure father-daughter project. Father Thorsten, completely football-mad, and daughter Janna, involved in various charity projects for years. In 2014 the two joined forces — the birth of FUSSBALLENGEL.
Hosted by Globale Nachbarschaft e.V., benefiting the "Gente Valente" daycare centre in Sobradinho. Donated prizes were raffled among all donors.
Benefiting Aachener Engel e.V. Donated prizes from Mediamarkt, the Football Museum and Amazon were raffled.
The birth of damnit e.V. as host and beneficiary: the newest star in Hamburg's fair-trade sky. Through campaigns, workshops and cool projects we try to make fair trade appealing to lots of young people. "Damn it! Make fair trade sexy again!" — damnit e.V.'s motto ever since.
The prediction game for EURO 2020 had to be cancelled due to Covid.
In partnership with "i am light": every prediction funds a solar lamp sponsorship. A deliberate response to the human rights situation in Qatar.
Benefiting the children's and youth hospice service of the Aachen region.
No prediction game for the 2026 World Cup.
10th anniversary of damnit e.V. as host and beneficiary. Theme: sustainability.
